Co-founder, with Davina Vickers, of Davina's Fund.

Co-founder, with Dr Lindi van Niekerk, of the Positive Health Initiative in Cape Town, South Africa, the precursor to the Inclusive Healthcare Innovation Initiative, the first of its kind in Africa, which falls under the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation within the Graduate School of Business of the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Introduced the idea of 'in-house innovation competition' within the state health sector in South Africa: 'There’s a wealth of amazing people in the state system who have innovative, practical ideas & suggestions to improve procedures/service delivery (because they genuinely care) – and typically they aren’t heard/have to fight so hard that most give up. Imagine there was some sort of ‘in-house innovation-competition’ whereby health workers could submit proposals/case studies, with excellence awards going to both the relevant worker and centre.'

Dr Lindi van Niekerk has developed this idea into the successful Health Innovator's Review which continues to grow from strength to strength ( See the article), and expand to parallel institutions (eg Groote Schuur Innovation Lab) and exciting new ventures, such as Social Innovation in Healthcare, partners of which include The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (UNICEF/UNDP/WORLD BANK/WHO), World Health Organization and the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford University.

Founder of Doctor Know Publishing: developed, co-authored, self-published & marketed Doctor Know Travel Health Handbooks, targeted at both business travellers and tourists travelling to South Africa, helping them know what to do or how to find the relevant healthcare providers should the need arise, especially when in unfamiliar areas. Sold direct to general public and sponsored & distributed by local governmental marketing company to embassies, consulates, local & overseas trade shows, tourism offices, etc, particularly in the lead up to the 2010 World Cup.
